A Delegation led by Hon. Manzoor Nadir, M.P., Speaker of the National Assembly, extended a warm and gracious welcome to the esteemed members of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Delegation from the Canadian Branch as they arrived at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport last evening.
The CPA delegation (Canadian Branch) included Ms. Alexandra Mendès, M.P., Assistant Deputy Speaker and Chair of the CPA (Canadian Branch), Hon. Salma Atallahjan, Canadian Branch Executive Committee Member, Mr. Rhéal Éloi Fortin, M.P., Canadian Branch Member, Mr. Robert Kitchen, M.P., Canadian Branch Executive Committee Member and Mr. Remi Bourgault, Secretary of the Canadian Branch.
The agenda for the delegation includes a series of meetings with Hon. Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark A. Phillips, M.S.S., M.P., Prime Minister, a courtesy call on Hon. Manzoor Nadir, M.P., Speaker of the National Assembly, and meetings with Ministers of Government and Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Aubrey Norton, M.P.
Meanwhile, the welcoming delegation included H.E. Mark Berman, High Commissioner of Canada, Dr. Asha Kissoon, M.P., Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Dharamkumar Seeraj, M.P., Member of Parliament (Government) and Hon. Dawn Hastings-Williams, M.P., Member of Parliament (Opposition), and members of staff of the Parliament Office.
The visit from the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Delegation provides an excellent opportunity to deepen these connections and work towards shared goals.
