Helpful Hands Youth Group secures a spot in the Semi-finals for the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2024

It was an exhilarating matchup as the Helpful Hands Youth Group defeated the Future Diplomats Youth Group in the quarter-finals (round two, match two) of the Speaker’s Regional Youth Debating Competition 2024. This in-person matchup was held at 2 p.m., today, May 28, 2024., in the Chamber of the Public Buildings, Brickdam, Georgetown.
The moot for this debate was, “Noncommunicable diseases are sufficiently addressed in Guyana.”
Both groups demonstrated their uncanny capability to articulate their well-reasoned positions on the moot.
Ms. Adiane Saul, of the winning Helpful Hands Youth Group, was adjudged the Best Debater award for this matchup.

The combined average scores for the judges were as follows: for the Proposition, the Helpful Hands Youth Group, 203.3 points, and 190 points for the Opposing side, the Future Diplomats Youth Group.
To date, the competition continues to showcase skillful encounters from the debating groups.
The two remaining matches for the quarter finals will be streamed at 9:30 a.m., and 11 a.m., on Friday, May 31, 2024.
All the of the qualifying teams in this quarter-final round of the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2024 have cemented their spot in the 9th Annual Youth Parliament.
