Curtain Closes on 2025 Budget Presentations at the 96th Sitting of the National Assembly

Liliendaal, Greater Georgetown, E.C.D. – The 2025 Budget Presentations concluded today during the 96th Sitting of the National Assembly of the Twelfth Parliament, held in the Dome of the Arthur Chung Conference Centre (ACCC). The presentations marked a critical step in the parliamentary process as the government and opposition outlined their perspectives on the proposed fiscal plan for the upcoming year.
A total of eight Members of Parliament (MPs) participated in the Speaker’s Line-up, with four representatives each from the Government and Opposition benches. The presenters included:
Government:
- Hon. Mohabir A. Nandlall, S.C., M.P., Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs
- Hon. Gail Teixeira, M.P., Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Governance and Government Chief Whip
- Hon. Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark A. Phillips, M.S.S., M.P., Prime Minister
- Hon. Dr. Ashni K. Singh, M.P., Senior Minister in the Office of the President with Responsibility for Finance
Opposition:
- Dr. Asha Kissoon, M.P., Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly
- Ms. Catherine A. Hughes, M.P.
- Ms. Volda Lawrence, M.P.
- Mr. Aubrey Norton, M.P., Opposition Leader
With the Budget Presentations now concluded, the National Assembly will shift its focus to the consideration of the Estimates and Expenditures for the fiscal year 2025. Four days have been allocated for these deliberations, which will commence tomorrow, Friday, January 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
