The Christianburg/Wismar Secondary School Student Governing Body Youth Group defeated the Linden Superstars Youth Group in round two, match one for Region 10, during this afternoon’s session of the Speaker’s Regional Youth Debating Competition 2023.
With this win, the Christianburg/Wismar Secondary School Student Governing Body advances to the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2023.

Ms. Hadassah Mc Bean of the winning Young Influencers Youth Group copped the award for the Best Debater for this matchup.
The moot for this debate was, “Funding of Sports Facilities Without Implementation Mechanisms is a Waste of Taxpayers’ Dollars.”
The combined scores for the judges were as follows: for the Proposition, the Linden Superstars Youth Group, 165 (Average), and 183 points (Average) for the Opposing side, the Christianburg/Wismar Secondary School Student Governing Body Youth Group.
The final debate for this year’s Speaker’s Regional Youth Debating Competition will continue at 2 p.m., tomorrow, Wednesday, June 14, 2023.
