The Christianburg/Wismar Secondary School – Student Governing Body Youth Group defeated the New Silvercity Secondary School’s Health Club Youth Group in round one, match one for Region 10, during this morning’s session of the Speaker’s Regional Youth Debating Competition 2023.
Mr. Colin Bascom of the winning Christianburg/Wismar Secondary School – Student Governing Body Youth Group copped the award for the Best Debater for this matchup.
The moot for this debate was, “Poverty is a Mindset.”
The combined scores for the judges were as follows: for the Proposition, the New Silvercity Secondary School’s Health Club Youth Group, 153 (Average), and 163 points (Average) for the Opposing side, the New Silvercity Secondary School’s Health Club Youth Group.
The debates will continue at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2023.
