The Oasis of Optimism Youth Group advances to the second round of the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2024

In a display of eloquence and critical thinking, the Oasis of Optimism Youth Group defeated the Berbice Youths in Development Youth Group in round one, match four, during the 9:30 a.m. virtual session of the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2024.

The moot for this debate was, “Guyana’s education system produces quality output.”
Mr. Eion Adams of the winning Oasis of Optimism Youth Group was adjudged the Best Debater for this matchup.
The combined scores for the judges were as follows: for the Proposition, the Oasis of Optimism Youth Group, 173 (Average), and 162 points (Average) for the Opposing side, the Berbice Youths in Development Youth Group.
With this win, the participants of the Oasis of Optimism Youth Group have secured their spot in the 9th Annual Youth Parliament.
The Speaker's National Debating Competition 2024 aims to foster a spirit of intellectual curiosity among youths, encourage rigorous research, and promote respectful dialogue on a wide range of pressing topics.
