The University of Guyana Berbice Campus Orators’ Mastery Society Youth Group Secures the first win in the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2024

The University of Guyana Berbice Campus Orators’ Mastery Society Youth Group defeated the Progressive Youth Movement Youth Group in round one, match one, during this morning’s session of the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2024.
The moot for this debate was, “Guyana’s anti-corruption measures are effective.”

The debaters during this in-person matchup demonstrated their ability to articulate well-researched arguments, challenge opposing viewpoints, and engage in respectful and constructive dialogue.
Ms. Felisha Mohamed of the winning University of Guyana Berbice Campus Orators’ Mastery Society Youth Group copped the award for the Best Debater for this matchup.
The combined scores for the judges were as follows: for the Proposition, the University of Guyana Berbice Campus Orators’ Mastery Society Youth Group, 193 (Average), and 172 points (Average) for the Opposing side, the Progressive Youth Movement Youth Group.
This is the fourth year of the Speaker's National Debating Competition which aims to foster a spirit of intellectual curiosity, encourage rigorous research, and promote respectful dialogue on a wide range of pressing topics.
