The University of Guyana Men’s Action Network (UGMAN) Youth Group and the Good Hope Police Youth Groups were victorious on day 5 of the Speaker’s Regional Youth Debating Competition 2023

It was a bittersweet victory on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, for the University of Guyana Men’s Action Network (UGMAN) Youth Group as they progressed to the second round of debates for Region 4.
The 9.30 a.m. debate was canceled when information was shared about the passing of a relative of one of the participants on the Non-Pariel Youth in Development Youth Group just minutes before the livestream.
Hon. Manzoor Nadir, M.P., Speaker of the National Assembly, during opening remarks, expressed heartfelt condolences to the participant and family.
For the second matchup, the 11 a.m. session, the Good Hope Police Youth Group defeated the Team Daniels Youth Group to secure its spot in the 3rd Annual National Youth Debating Competition.
The combined scores for the judges were as follows: for the Proposition, Team Daniels Youth Group, 148 points, and 200.6 points for the Opposing side, the Good Hope Police Youth Group.
The moot for this debate was, “Should Guyana’s hinterland be equipped with more medical facilities?”
The Best Debater for this match was Ms. Nadine Wong of the Good Hope Police Youth Group.
The debates will resume after the Easter Holiday.
