The West Bank Young Achievers Youth Group of Region 3 today defeated the Visionary Leaders Youth Group in round one match two, during the first match for the morning session of the Speaker’s Regional Youth Debating Competition 2023.
The Best Debater for this matchup was Ms. Molica Gadsby of the West Bank Young Achievers Youth Group and the moot for this debate was, “Racism can be controlled by legislation."
The combined scores for the judges were as follows: for the Proposition, the West Bank Young Achievers Youth Group, 188 points, and 175 points for the Opposing side, the Visionary Leaders Youth Group.

The 11 a.m. session saw a thrilling matchup between the University of Guyana's Students' Society (UGSS), Turkeyen Campus Youth Group, and the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Guyana Youth Group. Despite the power outage, the UGSS Turkeyen Campus emerged victorious in Round 1, Match 1, for Region 4.
The moot for this debate was, “Income tax should be banned in Guyana.”
The Best Debater for this match was Ms. Ashmina Jagoo of the University of Guyana's Students' Society, Turkeyen Campus Youth Group.
The combined scores for the judges were as follows: for the proposition, JCI Guyana, 173 points, and 213 points for the opposing side, the University of Guyana's Students' Society, Turkeyen Campus.
