The Young Influencers Youth Group defeated the Kast Talent Management Youth Group in round one, match one for District 11 (Georgetown), during this morning’s session of the Speaker’s Regional Youth Debating Competition 2023.
Ms. Corissa McClure of the winning Young Influencers Youth Group copped the award for the Best Debater for this matchup.
The moot for this debate was, “Legislation is Ineffective in the Prevention of Road Accidents in Guyana.”
The combined scores for the judges were as follows: for the Proposition, the Kast Talent Management Youth Group, 158 (Average), and 216 points (Average) for the Opposing side, the Young Influencers Youth Group.
Today's 9:30 a.m. debate between the Mahdia Secondary School Youth Group and the Green Fingered Youth Environmental Club Youth Group was again rescheduled to a date to be announced.
The debates will continue at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, May 19, 2023.
