The Youth Arise Youth Group asserts itself as they advance to round two of the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2023

It was an impressive matchup as the Youth Arise Youth Group defeated the Blairmont Humanitarian Organisation Youth Group in round one, match four, during the 2 p.m. session in the Speaker’s Regional Youth Debating Competition 2023.
The moot for this debate was, “The minimum legal drinking age in Guyana should be 16 years.”

Both teams showcased their persuasive arguments to the judges and those in attendance during the physical matchup held in the Chamber of the Public Buildings, Brickdam, Georgetown.
The combined scores for the judges were as follows: for the Proposition, the Youth Arise Youth Group, 226 points (Average), and 210.9` points (Average) for the Opposing side, the Blairmont Humanitarian Organisation Youth Group.

After the dust settled, Mr. Lallchan Gajadhar of the Blairmont Humanitarian Organisation Youth Group copped the Best Debater award for this matchup.
Sixteen youth groups out of fifty qualified for this year’s Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition.
