Young Influencers Programme Youth Group advance to the Semi-finals for the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2023

It was an exhilarating matchup as the Young Influencers Programme Youth Group defeated the Youth Arise Youth Group in round two, match two, of the Speaker’s Regional Youth Debating Competition 2023. This in-person matchup was held on July 4, 2023, in the Chamber of the Public Buildings, Brickdam, Georgetown.
The moot for this debate was, “The death sentence should be enforced.”

Both groups demonstrated their uncanny capability to articulate their well-reasoned positions on the moot.
The combined average scores for the judges were as follows: for the Proposition, the Youth Arise Youth Group, 187.2 points, and 195.8 points for the Opposing side, the Young Influencers Youth Group.
The replacement debater, Mr. Imran Bacchus, of the Young Influencers Youth Group, was adjudged the Best Debater award for this matchup.
To date, the competition continues to showcase skillful encounters from the debating groups.
All the teams that qualified for this round of the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2023 have secured a spot in the 8th Annual Youth Parliament.
