The New Life Youth Flame Youth Group emerged victorious in the Region 3 matchup of the Speaker’s Regional Youth Debating Competition 2025. The group triumphed over the Uitvlugt Discourse League Youth Group during the first in-person debate held at 9:00 a.m., in the Chamber of the Public Buildings, Brickdam, Georgetown.

The moot for this riveting debate was “Sustainable agriculture is not sustainable throughout Guyana.” Both teams impressed the judges, attendees, and online viewers with their compelling arguments.

Ms. Anaya Garnett of the New Life Youth Flame Youth Group performed well, earning the prestigious Best Debater award for this matchup.

The judges awarded the following scores: the Proposition, Uitvlugt Discourse League Youth Group, received an average of 111.6 points, while the Opposing side, New Life Youth Flame Youth Group, garnered an average of 200.6 points.

This decisive win secures the New Life Youth Flame Youth Group a coveted spot in the upcoming Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2025.
