Parliament of Guyana participates in Internet Governance Forum 2020

More than 5,000 participants from 170 countries, representing civil society, Government, private sector, technical community and international organisations are participating in the virtual Internet Governance Forum (IGF) 2020, co-organised by the United Nations and the Inter-Parliamentary Union from 9th to 17th November, 2020.
As part of IGF 2020’s week of activities, a Parliamentary Roundtable session was held yesterday, 10th November, 2020, under the theme “Building trust in a time of COVID-19 response and post-COVID-19 recovery”. The Parliament of Guyana was represented by Hon. Gail Teixeira, MP, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Governance, and Hon. Catherine Hughes, MP. Ms. Carlleta Charles, Parliamentary Executive Officer, participated as an observer.
The aim of the Parliamentary Roundtable was to fast-track the translation of the Forum’s recommendations into national laws by bringing its outcomes to national legislative bodies for follow-up and concrete action.
