Parliamentary delegation attend’s CPA conference in Barbados

Speaker of the House, Raphael Trotman, accompanied by the Minister of Housing and Water, Irfaan Ali, Dr. Rupert Roopnarine, , Dr. Vindhya Persaud, , Mrs. Catherine Hughes, Mr. Robin Motayne, Youth Parliamentarian, and Ms. Jocette Bacchus, Clerk of Committee, are currently in Barbados attending the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association’s 39th Annual Regional Conference of the Caribbean, the Americas and the Atlantic Region in Bridgetown, Barbados, from July 25, 2014 to August 2, 2014.
The conference, which began on July 25th and is set to conclude on August 2nd, 2014, is being held using the theme “Forging Ahead in a Hostile Global Environment” at the Hilton Barbados in Bridgetown. It is being used as a tool to investigate progress made by the Branches of the Region in achieving “Benchmarks for Democratic Legislatures”.
During the eight (8) day period the Guyanese delegation will be attending various sessions, including the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians Conference, Regional Executive Committee Luncheon Meeting, the 39th Annual Conference of the Caribbean, the Americas and the Atlantic Region of the (CPA) and 10th Regional Youth Parliament Debate.
