Georgetown, Guyana – In an electrifying conclusion to Match 1 of the third round of the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2025, Region 9’s very own St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church Youth Group secured their spot in the semifinals after an impressive victory over the University of Guyana Berbice Campus Orators’ Mastery Society. The high-stakes encounter was held virtually at 9:30 a.m. today, Friday, June 20.
Debating on the moot “Military draft must be implemented in Guyana”, the St. Robert Bellarmine team, representing the Proposition, delivered a commanding performance that dismantled the Opposition’s counterarguments with clarity and precision. The Region 9 contenders walked away with an impressive average score of 188.5 points, surpassing the UG Berbice team’s 177.5 points.
