Georgetown, Guyana – The Ruimveldt Life Improvement Centre Youth Ministries Group has secured the final coveted spot in the Final of the 2025 Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition, following a commanding victory over the St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church Youth Group.

In a compelling virtual showdown held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, June 27, the two teams debated the moot: “Preserving traditional cultures should take precedence over enhancing globalisation in Guyana.” Representing the Opposition, the Ruimveldt Life Improvement Centre Youth Ministries Group demonstrated superior articulation and argumentation, emerging victorious with an average score of 196 points to their opponents’ 188.

The panel of judges commended both teams for applying the advice received in previous rounds to this match. They highlighted the importance of effective posture, tone, and pitch while presenting, encouraging debaters to continue refining these skills in their future oratory pursuits.

Ms. Serena Hope of the Ruimveldt Life Improvement Centre Youth Ministries Group was named Best Debater of the match, earning praise from the judging panel and online spectators for her eloquence, critical insight, and commanding presence. Ms. Tonica Anthon of the St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church Youth Group received an honourable mention for her outstanding contribution.

With this victory, the Ruimveldt Life Improvement Centre Youth Ministries Group advances to the Final, where they will face the Upper East Coast Youth Federation (UPEC) on Friday, July 4, 2025, at 2 p.m. to determine the overall champion of this year’s competition.
