Ruimveldt Life Improvement Centre Youth Ministries Youth Group Advances to Round 3 of the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2025

Georgetown, Guyana – The Ruimveldt Life Improvement Centre Youth Ministries Youth Group has secured its spot in Round 3 of the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2025 after a well-earned victory over the New Life Youth Flame Youth Group in the final match-up of Round 2.

The engaging debate unfolded this afternoon, Friday, June 13, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chamber of the Public Buildings. The teams sparred over the timely and provocative moot: “Cash grants to Guyanese are a sustainable method for wealth distribution.”
Arguing as the proposition, the New Life Youth Flame Youth Group earned an average score of 181 points. However, the Ruimveldt Life Improvement Centre Youth Ministries Youth Group, arguing in opposition, emerged victorious with an average of 185 points—clinching the third and final win of Round 2.
Chief Judge Sarfraz Jacoob delivered remarks commending the overall quality of the debate and awarded an Honourable Mention to Ms. Shanomae Milling of the Ruimveldt team for her commendable performance.

In a spirited display of excellence, Ms. Ayanna Garnett of the New Life Youth Flame Youth Group was named Best Debater of the match despite her team’s narrow defeat.
The Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition continues every Tuesday and Friday, showcasing Guyana’s young orators as they examine some of the nation’s most pressing issues.
