This week’s edition will examine another four (4) former Members of Parliament visited by the Clerk of the National Assembly, Mr. Sherlock Isaacs, A.A., and his team.

Former Member of Parliament and President, Mr. Donald Ramotar, said this initiative by the Clerk was excellent. He further reminisced on his tenure as a member of the National Assembly.

"I don’t normally get visits from anyone,” said the former Member of Parliament and Minister of Local Government, Mr. Kellawan Lall, as he expressed his joy and surprise at the visit by the Clerk of the National Assembly. During discussions, Mr. Lall reflected on his quiet life of planting his garden and his favourite pastime, painting.

The outreach programme was initiated to visit, express thanks, and check on the welfare of former Members of the National Assembly of the Parliament of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana.

During discussions with the Clerk of the National Assembly, Mr. Dave Danny, former Member of Parliament, who was very emotional, expressed his gratitude for the visit.

“What a wonderful gesture,” said Mr. Jermome Khan, former Member of Parliament as he received his plaque and certificate for his years of dedicated service.

According to the Clerk, this was his way of checking on the welfare of the former Members of Parliament who spent long hours in the National Assembly debating policies and making laws for the good Government of Guyana.

During his visit with the former Members of Parliament, the Clerk presented them each with a Certificate of Appreciation, a Plaque for their years of dedicated service, and a COVID package containing vitamins and cleaning supplies, among other things.

Mr. Isaacs, during each visit, assured the former Members of Parliament that his secretariat will be checking on their welfare on a quarterly basis.
