Istanbul, Türkiye – April 20, 2026 - The Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Manzoor Nadir, J.P., M.P., along with members of the Guyana delegation, held a cordial bilateral meeting on April 16, 2026, with the Speaker of the Australian Parliament and accompanying delegation on the sidelines of the recently concluded 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Istanbul.

The meeting commenced with the exchange of greetings and expressions of appreciation for the opportunity to engage, reflecting the longstanding spirit of cooperation between Guyana and Australia. Both Speakers conveyed their gratitude for the discussions and underscored the importance of maintaining open channels of dialogue among parliamentary counterparts.
During the engagement, the delegations exchanged views on shared global priorities, including the strengthening of multilateralism, the promotion of democratic governance, and the advancement of peace and stability. The discussions highlighted the critical role of parliaments in addressing contemporary challenges through collaboration and mutual support.
Speaker Nadir also explored the possibility of a future official visit to Guyana by his Australian counterpart, noting that such an exchange would further deepen parliamentary relations and foster greater understanding between the two nations.
