The Golden Om Dharmic Youth Organisation Youth Group emerged victorious in a closely contested matchup against the Queen’s Youth Group in Match 4, Round One of the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2025.
Held virtually on Tuesday, June 3, this was the second of four debates conducted that day. The moot for the debate, “Affirmative action does more harm than good,” challenged both teams to delve deep into complex social issues, as they demonstrated rigorous research, persuasive argumentation, and respectful rebuttal in an engaging and insightful session.
With an average score of 199.5 points, the Golden Om Dharmic Youth Organisation Youth Group narrowly edged out the Queen’s Youth Group, which secured an average of 199.1 points. The outcome came down to a critical judging metric—Point 4—which proved decisive in determining the winner of this keenly contested debate.
While the victory belonged to the Golden Om team, it was Ms. Jane Farley of the Queen’s Youth Group who received top honours as Best Debater for her outstanding performance and articulate delivery.
The Golden Om Dharmic Youth Organisation Youth Group now advances to the second round of the competition and qualifies for a seat in the prestigious 10th Annual Youth Parliament.
