Minister Rodrigues heads Parliamentary Delegation to IPU’s Eighth Global Conference of Young MPs

The Parliament of Guyana has sent a Delegation to the Eighth IPU Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, from June 15 to June 16, 2022.
The theme of the Conference is Young MPs for climate action.
The Guyanese Delegation attending the Eighth Edition of the IPU Global Conference includes the Minister within the Ministry of Housing and Water, Hon. Susan Rodrigues, M.P., Hon. Alister Charlie, M.P., Opposition members, Hon. Devin Sears, M.P., Hon. Shurwayne Holder, M.P., and attached to the Parliament Office, Ms. Christina Ramroop, Parliamentary Executive Assistant (ag).
The focus of the Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians is to mitigate the impact of climate change through dialogue.
Minister within the Ministry of Housing and Water, Hon. Susan Rodrigues, M.P., is expected to deliver her presentation during tomorrow’s session, Climate Change Support for Developing Countries
At the sessions, young MPs are encouraged to utilise this platform to address climate change issues, the sharing of policies and parliamentary actions to confront the crisis, and the coordination of solutions to ensure that the planet and human rights are protected.
The sessions will focus on the following: The state of climate change, its impact and human rights; Parliamentary action to fight climate change; Climate change and civil society; and Climate change support for developing countries.
The Conference is being jointly organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Egyptian House of Representatives.
