The Nyah Foundation Youth Group claimed an impressive victory against the Next Generation of Diplomats Youth Group in the seventh matchup of Round 1 for Region 4 in the highly anticipated Speaker’s Regional Youth Debating Competition 2025.
The debate unfolded at 11 a.m., in the Chamber of the Public Buildings, Brickdam, Georgetown. This match marked the seventh face-to-face debate for Region 4 and the second of three scheduled for the day. The moot under discussion was “Vehicles should be banned from the Stabroek Market area.”
Both teams delivered compelling, well-researched arguments, captivating the live audience and online viewers alike. The distinguished panel of judges commended the participants for their impressive delivery and depth of knowledge.
Leading the Nyah Foundation Youth Group to victory was Mr. Moses Williams, whose eloquence and persuasive approach earned him the coveted title of Best Debater for this round.
The Next Generation of Diplomats Youth Group, representing the Proposition side, secured a respectable average score of 196 points. However, it was the Nyah Foundation Youth Group, standing firmly on the Opposition side, who emerged victorious with an impressive average score of 240 points.
This win propels the Nyah Foundation Youth Group into the second round for Region 4, where they join an impressive lineup of advancing teams, including Cummings Lodge Youth Movement, Grove/Diamond Youth Ambassadors, JCI Guyana, the University of Guyana Women in Law Association, the Gen Advocates, and the Child Rights Ambassadors Youth Groups.
The Speaker’s Regional Youth Debating Competition 2025 features fifty passionate teams from across Guyana, each vying for the ultimate title through insightful discourse and unwavering determination.
