Ms. Sheila Veersammy was today sworn in as the newest Member of Parliament representing the Opposition, the People’s Progressive Party/ Civic (PPP/C). Speaker of the National Assembly, Dr. Barton Scotland, welcomed her saying that he hopes that she will add “luster and polish to the Assembly.” On February 11, 2016, the National Assembly was informed that Oposition MP, Dr Clive Jagan, resigned from his post following his prolonged absence from the House. Ms. Veersammy now fills his vacated seat.
