The Auditor General, Mr. Deodat Sharma, today officially handed over the Auditor General’s Report for the fiscal year ended 2023 to the Honourable Manzoor Nadir, M.P., Speaker of the National Assembly. The brief ceremony took place in the Parliament Chamber at the Public Buildings, Brickdam, Georgetown.

The handing-over ceremony was completed ahead of the customary September deadline, in adherence to Article 223 (3) of the Constitution of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, which mandates that "the Auditor General shall submit his or her audit reports to the Speaker of the National Assembly, who shall cause them to be laid before the National Assembly."

The report is set to be made public following its formal tabling at the next Sitting of the National Assembly.

In addition to the Auditor General's main report, two Performance Audit Reports were also submitted during the ceremony. These are as follows:

• Management of Maternal Health Care Services at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation
• Review of the Design and Implementation of the Women’s Innovation and Investment Network (WIIN) Programme

The event was attended by members of the Public Accounts Committee, including Hon. Bishop Juan Edghill, M.P., Minister of Public Works; Hon. Dharamkumar Seeraj, M.P.; Hon. Sanjeev Datadin, M.P.; Hon. Jermain Figuera, M.P.; Hon. Ganesh Mahipaul, M.P.; Hon. Juretha Fernandes, M.P.; Ms. Hermina Gilgeours, Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly; Ms. Jennifer Chapman, Accountant General, Ministry of Finance; Mr. Sukrishnalall Pasha, Finance Secretary, Ministry of Finance, along with senior staff members from the Auditor General’s Office, the Ministry of Finance, and the Parliament Office.

The report highlights the Government’s ongoing commitment to transparency, accountability, and good governance, and offers key insights into the management of public finances over the past fiscal year.
