The Golden Om Dharmic Youth Organisation Youth Group Clinches First Win for Region 6 in the Speaker’s Regional Youth Debating Competition 2025

Georgetown, Guyana: The Golden Om Dharmic Youth Organisation Youth Group secured a hard-fought victory over the Skeldon Line Path Secondary School Orators Club Youth Group in the opening match of Round 1 for Region 6 in the Speaker’s Regional Youth Debating Competition 2025.
The highly anticipated debate commenced at 11 a.m. in the Chamber of the Public Buildings, Brickdam, Georgetown. It was the first in-person matchup for Region 6, where the teams passionately debated the moot: “The healthcare system in the Hinterland has changed for the better.” Both sides presented well-researched and compelling arguments that captivated attendees, online viewers, and the esteemed panel of judges.
Ms. Nandenie Narainsamy of the Golden Om Dharmic Youth Organisation stood out with her fiery and persuasive delivery, earning the prestigious Best Debater title for this round.
Representing the Proposition side, the Golden Om Dharmic Youth Organisation Youth Group secured an average score of 236 points, while the Opposing team, the Skeldon Line Path Secondary School Orators Club Youth Group, recorded 205 points.
The Chief judge, Dr. Valarie Groorasammy-Smith, during her judges' remarks noted that both teams were impressive during their rebuttals.
This victory makes the Golden Om Dharmic Youth Organisation Youth Group the first team to advance to the second round for Region 6. Only three teams from the region will earn the opportunity to compete in the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2025.
