Georgetown, Guyana – Participants of the 10th Annual Youth Parliament today gathered in the historic Chamber of the Public Buildings, Brickdam, Georgetown, for a day of grand rehearsals, marking a key stage in their preparation for the highly anticipated Sittings.

The morning session was dedicated to the junior Youth Parliamentarians, who began the day with a guided tour of the Chamber. This was followed by introductions and an in-depth familiarisation with parliamentary protocols. During this session, the Hon. Manzoor Nadir, J.P., M.P., Speaker of the National Assembly, addressed the juniors, encouraging them to embrace the opportunity to learn, lead, and make their voices heard. He commended their participation and urged them to take full advantage of the Youth Parliament experience.

Former Youth Parliamentarians—now serving as Mentors—were also on hand to share invaluable insights, encouragement, and guidance to help the young participants navigate the parliamentary process with confidence.

In the afternoon, the senior Youth Parliamentarians, after completing their tour of the Chamber, participated in a detailed walk-through of the Sitting’s procedures. They engaged in interactive discussions with staff members of the Parliament Office and the Planning Committee for the Annual Youth Parliament, receiving clarity on rules, protocols, and expectations for the formal proceedings.

To conclude the day, participants were treated to a movie night in the MP’s Lounge—providing a well-deserved moment of relaxation before they returned to their accommodations to rest and prepare for tomorrow’s Sittings.

This year’s Youth Parliament will feature two days of Sittings. On Thursday, August 14, 2025, the first Sitting for the junior category will commence at 9:00 a.m., followed by the senior category at 1:00 p.m. The third and fourth Sittings will take place on Friday, August 15, 2025.

The 10th Annual Youth Parliament continues to serve as a dynamic platform for young leaders to engage with the legislative process, develop leadership and public speaking skills, and gain hands-on experience in parliamentary procedures. Tomorrow’s Sittings are set to be a vibrant display of the dedication, preparation, and talent of Guyana’s future leaders.
