Speaker, Clerk, staff on parliamentary leadership training in London

A team from the Parliament Office headed by Hon. Dr Barton Scotland CCH MP, Speaker of the National Assembly and including Mr. Sherlock Ewart Isaacs, Clerk of the National Assembly, Ms. Hermina Gilgeours, Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly, Ms. Monette Ann Garnett Christopher, Chief Administrative Officer, Ms. Debra Hermina Cadogan, Head of Committees Division, Mr. Michael Munroe, Head of the Parliamentary Library, Parliament, Mr. Deo Dookie, Systems Development Co-ordinator, Ms Christina Ramdas, Senior Personnel Officer, and Ms.Oneika Alphonso-Walton, Public Relations Officer, are currently in London attending a Parliamentary Leadership, to seminar aimed at strengthening the administrative, financial and procedural independence of the Parliament Office of Guyana.
Over the past three days the team has been exploring the management, administration and financing of Parliament; discussing practices related to oversight, accountability and professional standards for Parliamentarians and officials; exchanging knowledge and experiences with their counterparts in the UK Parliament; receiving a broader understanding of best practice in the role of Committees and Committee Clerks in the legislative and democratic processes and procedures; examining the UK's work to reduce the environmental impact of Parliament; and receiving insight and knowledge related to the UK’s parliamentary outreach programmes.
The training seminar began on Monday, April 18 and ends Thursday, April 21, 2016.
